Yoga in the mountains!

Retreat to Estes Park, Colorado and the Rocky Mountains this mid-summer for a wonderful long week and retreat nestled just before the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park where the elk roam and views surround us.

Enjoy yoga practices, guided + silent meditation, time to relax, swim, and enjoy the hot tub at our resort, hike and spend time out in nature, and soak up a trip over the mountain to the lake and hot sulphur hot springs to further our wellness and relaxation. We’ll take time for plenty of yoga practice, reflection and journaling with a little organic cacao, delicious meals at some of Estes Park’s best restaurants, and a nature bath alongside other wonderful women.

During our long weekend, we’ll call the Rams Horn Village Resort home and take advantage of all of the amenities on site including a pool, hot tub, fitness center, club house, outdoor areas, hammocks, and more.

We’ll get out for a hike together one day, and one day we’ll carpool and head over the pass to enjoy some time in Grand Lake before we head on to soak at Hot Sulphur Hot Springs Resort and Spa before we head back to Estes Park.

Everyone will enjoy a private room within a 2 bedroom Mountain Cabin and Home that features 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, a well-equipped kitchen, fireplace, patio, bbq, tv, tea and coffee maker at the Rams Horn Village Resort.

During our retreat weekend we’ll take time to slow down in our yoga practice and take a joyful dive into our practice as we explore the breath, subtleties, nuances, alignment and lines of energy, building a home practice, and meeting ourselves wherever we are in out practice.

We’ll use the asana as an avenue to move towards meditation, positively affecting our lives off the mat, and returning home to our own body, breath, mind, and heart. This retreat is for all levels and students and all are encouraged to join us for a weekend of yoga in the mountains. We will also weave in a bit of restorative yoga, as well as Yoga Nidra for deeper rest and relaxation.

Mary has been practicing yoga for over 33 years, teaching for 15 years now, and guiding retreats for over 13 years and is excited to share her passion for yoga, nature, and community with a fantastic group of women this summer.

More About Estes Park, Colorado

Meet me in the Rocky Mountains and in one of my favorite laid back little mountain towns.

As a little girl, I grew up coming to Estes Park each summer with family to hike, climb, enjoy time out in nature, and see family. After high school I moved out to Boulder, Colorado from Southwest Utah and attended CU Boulder and headed to Estes Park and RMNP whenever I could until I moved to Hawaii in 2018.

I can hardly wait to share a nourishing long weekend together in one of my favorite corners of Colorado and amongst mountains that feel like family members. From stunning views, hiking, fishing, art, boating, live music, shopping, good food, and great people, the town features something for every one and warmly welcomes all to relax, explore, and enjoy our days.

A little more about Estes.

Estes Park is in one of the world’s most beautiful locations, surrounded on all sides by awe inspiring peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Experience natural Colorado with real wildlife viewing and outdoor activities at every level – from mild to wild. We’ll connect with the natural world, breathe deep, relax, and be inspired.

Estes Park is Colorado’s original playground, just 70 miles from Denver. For more than 150 years, visitors have come for a fun-filled vacation, a romantic weekend escape, a magical mountain wedding, or a family reunion. The village is the comfortable base camp and resort that welcomes you home every night.

Enjoy guided adventure activities like fly fishing, horseback riding, or white water rafting, or explore on your own with a scenic drive over the Continental Divide on Trail Ridge Road to Grand Lake or down the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway. Hike or snowshoe to a spectacular mountain lake, or along a stream to a beautiful waterfall.

For a change of pace, visit the galleries, shopping, dining and events offered around town year-round in downtown Estes Park.

Yoga

Together we’ll enjoy a variety of styles and dynamic practices focusing mainly on a sustainable practice of Hatha Yoga.

We will be enjoying morning practice and we will be explore breath work, precise alignment and energetics of postures, the blueprint postures, meditation, reading and seeing bodies, the 8 limbs of yoga and living our yoga off the mat, restoratives, and more.

We’ll flow, workshop, learn, return home, and restore. Practice is appropriate for all levels and students from beginning students to advanced practitioners.

Meditation

We will enjoy guided meditation and will explore a variety styles of meditation including mindful meditation, silent meditation, and Vipassana meditation also known as insight meditation. Within this style of Vipassana meditation we will explore a variety of methods including breath meditation, and heart meditations including a compassion meditation and a metta or loving kindness meditation.

We will talk about the basics of meditation, finding a comfortable seat, and the roots of mindfulness.

Hiking

We will be getting out for a moderate hike together to further immerse in the exquisite and dynamic beauty of the mountains surrounding us.

Please plan on some uphill and incline hiking as well as more mellow trail.

Plan on wearing shoes and clothing appropriate for mountainous hiking. Also great to bring a hiking day pack, 1-2 reusable water bottles or a camelpak, extra energy -rich snacks for hiking, a good hat or two, layers to cover up from the sun, reef-safe sunscreen, hiking socks and shoes, and anything you may want for hiking and the sun.
