A retreat to Self and Sangha in South Korea.

Join us for a heart-awakened adventure and yoga retreat this April as we enjoy a deep dive into our yoga and meditation practices, community, culture, beauty, and adventure.

We are thrilled to share 8 spacious and joy-filled days together on retreat as we explore and soak up the beauty of autumn this November, and the wonders of spring and the cherry blossoms blooming on our South Korea Yoga Adventure Retreats this year and next.

Our journey begins with 2 nights in the vibrant city of Seoul where you can enjoy everything this fascinating city has to offer—Korean fashion, beauty, music, art, food, markets, restaurants, culture, and much more.

From Seoul, we will travel south to the beautiful oceanside city of Busan on the eastern seacoast. Finally, we´ll travel inland and spend our final 3 days in a lovely, relaxing resort in the Korean forest.

This trip is for those who want to combine a yoga retreat with a unique and unforgettable experience in South Korea. We will have the opportunity to visit various beautiful regions of South Korea, including cities, the seaside, and forests.

Join us this autumn or next spring as we share and co-create an unforgettable long week together on and off the yoga mat. See you in South Korea, xo

Yoga

All levels of practitioners are welcome and encouraged to join.

During our stay in Seoul and Busan, we will practice yoga once a day most days. At our final destination in the forest, we will go deeper into our yoga practice with two classes a day. Here we also focus on our internal practice through pranayama (breathwork), guided meditations, Dharma talks, and you will also have an art/creativity workshop.

Our Yoga asana classes will be theme based and focus on understanding our individual needs.

Caroline Westling

https://yogamakes.com/about-yogamakes/

Caroline started teaching and sharing yoga in Sweden in 2004, where yoga was not widely spread at the time. She ran a studio in Västervik for six years until her family expanded to three children. In addition to running a yoga school, Caroline has taught yoga in Swedish schools and prisons for many years. In addition, Caroline has also education in nutrition, energy medicine and sound awareness.

Caroline’s yoga classes are challenging with a sense of ease. The ease comes through instructions in order to learn proper alignment and to build from the foundation up. Her sequences are creative and fun, she uses props and smart ways to help you understand how to move towards posture you thought was out of your reach. By that it is also implicated work with the internal battles like fear, ego and unworthiness. She has a good eye and love for reading and understanding bodies and people. This precision of practice is about aligning asanas as well as what needs to be done in order to get rid of the illusions we might have about ourselves.

She emphasizes safety and her focus is “safe practice” and teaching you to practice from your “here and now” state. Her aim is to bring you home, to find your inner space, through yoga and self-awareness.

Mary Susan Stults Sassone

Been hanging out on the yoga mat since 1991.

Born in Fort Payne, Alabama, Mary Susan Stults was raised in Cedar City, Utah. After moving to Colorado in 2001 to attend CU Boulder, she made Colorado her mountain home for about 20 years until she followed her heart to Hawaii.

In 2018, she traded the mountain life for island life and moved to Kauai, Hawaii where she lives with her fiance Brandon and their two cats, Tux and Sir Wobbles.

Mary Susan’s yoga and meditation practice and path began early in life with her mother as a child at home in 1991 and continued in the studio at the age of 14 in 1997 with the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. Mary practiced Hatha, Ashtanga Yoga, and Iyengar Yoga throughout highschool and early college and in 2002 began practicing at Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor's studio, the Yoga Workshop in Boulder, Colorado. Years later, Mary had the blessing to find Master Teacher Maty Ezraty with whom she studied intensively, mentored with, and assisted until her recent passing in 2019. Over thousands of hours and many years of study and practice, Maty shaped and influenced Mary Susan’s practice, teaching, and life on and off the yoga mat.

Mary Susan teaches in the U.S and internationally and is an experienced Senior Yoga & Meditation teacher, educator, mentor, and practitioner. She is a certified and experienced Yoga & Meditation teacher, educator, and practitioner, a WPA/Paddle Into Fitness Certified Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and SUP Yoga teacher, certified Kids Yoga teacher, certified Adaptive Yoga teacher, and is known by all for her enthusiasm, heart, and positive outlook.

She teaches a knowledgeable, dynamic, and refreshing yoga practice that intelligently weaves together the traditions of Iyengar Yoga and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. She also enjoys teaching Yin, Restorative Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, and Vipassana and Mindful Meditation. Many describe her energy as contagious, finding her nurturing, wise, grounded, & patient style of teaching to be welcoming &supportive. Her offerings are infused with her grounded yet light-hearted nature. When she is not teaching herself you can often find her in a training or Yoga intensive with one of her teachers or mentors.
